Translation Regulated (TR)-Mediated Gene Expression: Novel Expression and Reporter Vectors

Case ID:
06-796

This is a cell based vector system that is able to monitor the transition, in cell lines, from Cap dependent to Cap independent translation.  This shift is critical in determining if a cell, that is placed under significant stress (such as treatment with a chemotherapeutic agent), recovers or undergoes programmed cell death (apoptosis).  This information can be used to determine the efficacious and maximum tolerated dose of a compound in preclinical tumor studies.  It can also be used to determine the toxic effects of other normal cells in the body in response to treatment (liver, kidneys, heart, lung, etc.).
